In November 2021, Apple announced an independent service improvement program to provide spare parts, tools, and manuals to customers who wanted to repair their cellphones – especially the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 – itself. At that time, the company said the program would begin at the beginning of 2022, but had not provided an update. Now Google has announced that it will step over the plate on the right to improve the revolution ahead and work with iFixit to launch an independent repair program for pixel owners. IFixit said in a separate blog post that they will launch a pixel self-repair program in summer 2022. parts such as batteries, cameras, and replacement display – as well as other things that are usually used for general pixel repairs – will be available to buy on the iFixit site on the site US, Britain, Canada, Australia, and other European countries where cellphones are available.

The parts will be sold individually and as part of the repair kit, which is equipped with the tools needed to repair pixels if something happens to him, including screwdrivers, spudger, and iopener, which is designed to apply heat directly and evenly to enter telephone components who joins the adhesive.

What’s included in iFixit’s Google Pixel repair kit

Google and iFixit say that spare parts will be available for various pixel models, from pixels 2 all through the Pixel 6 Pro. Availability of spare parts will also be extended to the future pixel model. As for the tools needed to carry out repairs – apart from screwdrivers, spudger, and iopener – the repair kit will also come with a pre-cut substitute adhesive, which holds and holds back the phone; a set of six opening picks that resemble guitar picks; Ifixit opening tool; Suction handle; tilted tweezers; Precision bit drivers with integrated SIM EJECT tools; and 4mm precision bits that are adjusted for certain models.

For those who prefer to seek professional help, Google already has a partnership with several repair providers, including Uebebolongix, where users can take their cellphones to fix them. However, the amount of time and effort needed to repair pixels depends on age, model, and how damaged it is. Google and iFixit collaborate for independent pixel repair programs to extend the life of pixel phones. Google is also committed to providing a five-year security update for the latest pixel model that starts with pixels 6, and recycling programs that allow people to trade on unwanted pixel phones.
